The separation in 1947 of British India into the Muslim
state of Pakistan (with two sections West and East) and
largely Hindu India was never satisfactorily resolved. A
third war between these countries in 1971 resulted in East
Pakistan seceding and becoming the separate nation of
Bangladesh. A dispute over the state of Kashmir is
ongoing. |

Baltoro/K-2 Base Camp/Concordia Trek: |
It
is far and away the most popular trek in Pakistan, attracting
large number of trekking groups as well as numerous
mountaineering expeditions en-route to the peaks around
Concordia. In this route you may see a large number of
mountains and it en-route to the K-2 8611m, the second highest
peak in the world. The four peaks out of fourteen above 8000m
and eight of thirteen highest peaks of the world are located
around this trek. This route follows manly on the Baltoro
Glacier. This climax of the Baltoro Glacier is the beautiful
conjunction of the Godwin Austin Glacier, which descends from
K-2 and Baltoro Glacier called “CONCORDIA 4700m” lying in the
heart of the most heavily glaciered region out side the Polar
area and dankest concentration of peaks on earth.
CONCORDIA is the apex of this trek and viewpoint of several
